Texas Education Code §39.053 requires each Local Board of Trustees to publish and communicate an annual report that includes the Academic Excellence Indicator System report, campus performance objectives and incidents of prohibited behavior as well as prevention and safety policies. The intent of the Academic Excellence Indicator System (AEIS) is to inform the public about the educational performance of the District and of each campus in the District in relation to the District and the state. The AEIS report presents the campus performance information as well as student, staff and financial information required by the state.

The four possible accreditation/accountability ratings assigned to schools by the Texas Education Agency are:  Exemplary, Recognized, Acceptable or Unacceptable. Few schools are designated Exemplary by the state.

Among the sixteen schools rated by the Academic Excellence Indicator System Report for 2007-2008, five Rockwall schools were rated Exemplary, seven were Recognized and four were rated Academically Acceptable. None were rated Unacceptable.

Additional information regarding AEIS reports can be found on the Texas Education Agency (TEA) website. The TEA website provides AEIS reports back to the 1988-1989 school year as well as additional information relating to the Academic Excellence Indicator System for Texas public schools.
