| 2010 RISD National Merit Scholars Named |

The Rockwall Independent School District is pleased to announce that 33 high school students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholar Program. The National Merit Scholar Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships. High school students across the country enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Of the approximate 1.4 million entrants, some 50,000 students qualify for recognition in the National Merit Scholar Program. The students chosen as semifinalists have the opportunity to advance in the competition. National Merit Scholars winners will be selected from this group in the February.
